Chip ice from ZIEGRA

ChipIce has the ideal ice temperature of -0.5°C and therefore does not freeze together

Chip ice - the modern ice

This ice is also commonly known as flake ice

  • different sizes of ice: macro, standard and micro

  • for fast and long-term cooling

  • the goods do not freeze or become damaged

  • the ice does not freeze together or form lumps

  • for day-long storage (in insulated ice stores or containers)

  • with high cooling capacity and energy efficiency

  • Chip ice is hygienic due to its closed water system

  • the static evaporator avoids refrigerant leaks

  • the robust design makes the machines extremely reliable

ZIEGRA - Operating method

Water flows from the water chamber of the ice machine into the cylinder of the ice maker according to the principle of the communicating tubes. An evaporating coil surrounds the cylinder (e.g. R404A) which freezes the water on the inside of the cylinder. Thin layers of ice are continuously scraped off from the inner wall of the cylinder and conveyed upwards by the auger. There the ice is compacted, frozen further and then broken into pieces.

Due to this process the cold energy is able to re-freeze the water downstream immediately without any loss of energy. (If the ice layer is 1 or 2 mm thick, then too much energy is being converted for freezing due to the high insulation capability of the ice). Thanks to the idea of subsequently compacting and pressing the ice, an ideal ice thickness of up to 9.5 mm can be reached under low energy consumption.

As the ice is frozen on the internal wall of the cylinder, the refrigeration system of the ZIEGRA chip ice machines is completely sealed. Leakages cannot occur in the refrigeration system due to moving parts. Due to the patented process of the cylinder and ZIEGRA know-how, small compressors can be used.

This has the advantage of low energy consumption.

Consists of small pieces of ice with an average size of approx. 5mm. It guarantees good mixing as well as fast dissolving and cooling. Best suitable for mixing processes and sensitive goods such as fish filets.

The mix of small and large ice pieces guarantees a high cooling capacity and good durability - ideal for cutting and process cooling.

Pieces of ice which are up to 9.5mm thick. Macro ice is particularly durable, can be stored for long periods of time and provides excellent long-term cooling, e.g. for fish transport and goods displays.

Sustainability

Cooling should be refreshing, gentle, soothing, caring whether on products, in processes or on people. Our world needs to be treated with care – which is best achieved using natural and environmentally-friendly methods but without compromising performance. Exactly how Ice is made when produced by machines from the new ZIEGRA CoolNat series.
