Flake ice is particularly suitable for cooling processes when used directly after production without prolonged intermediate storage.
The ice is produced in a vertical fixed double-walled cylinder.
The water is pumped into a distribution ring and runs down the inside of the cylinder.
Refrigerant circulates between the cylinder walls and cools the cylinder so that the water freezes on its surface. The resulting ice is chipped off the cylinder wall by a pick-up roller and falls into the ice bin below.
Since there are no rotating parts in the refrigeration circuit of the evaporator, no refrigerant seals are necessary and leaks are avoided.
Furthermore, the ice is harvested without touching the cylinder wall. As a result, the service life of the ice maker is correspondingly long.
